Squash360 interviews Sarah Kippax, rising British squash professional on the WISPA circuit.
Sarah was recently appointed as an Official Ambassador for The Hi-Tec World Squash Championships – Manchester 2008 (read the story).
What was your childhood ambition?
When I was a kid, I wanted to grow up to be a doctor!
What is the best advice you received earlyier in your pro-squash career?
The 6 Ps: Proper Planning Prevents P*ss Poor Performance!
Give us three words your close friends would use to describe you:
Loyal, Determined, Hard-working.
How have your family influenced your squash career?
If it wasn't for my parents, I would never have attained my current level of squash success.
Do you have any plans or ambitions …
If I had more time & money I would set up a squash academy for talented youngsters.
If you had the opportunity to play another sport professionally, what would it be?
Tennis
Who is your favorite superhero or character in a book/movie?
I love Bridget Jones!
Things that bother you?
People with bad manners.
Given the chance to attend any sporting event, anywhere in the world, which you would most like to attend?
I wish I had been at the recent Federer Vs. Nadal Wimbledon final. That looked amazing.
What is your favourite?
Sportsperson: Roger Federer
Music: Anything that gets me in the mood for Squash!
Movies: Chick Flicks!
Book: The Kite Runner
Food: Thai
Board game: Backgammon
Offseason activities: Traveling, Painting, Coaching, and Training (of course!).
Sports (to play): Netball, Tennis, Hockey, Football
Sports (to watch): Tennis, Rugby, Athletics, Darts!

Beach or Snow: Beach (I’d get in trouble if I injured myself on the slopes!)
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
I love shopping. Shopping and chocolate!
When away from home, what do you miss the most?
My Boyfriend, Family & Friends. Also roast dinners and the English countryside.
When packing your bags for a tournament, What are the most important items that have to double check you have got?
My mobile phone is an important one. Otherwise playing without trainers or contact lenses would be tough!
You must have a fair amount of time waiting around during tournaments. How do you fill your time at hotels and airports?
Books, music & puzzles.
Do you have any squash pre-match routines or superstitions?
After the knock-up, I have to fold my tracksuit bottoms in a particular way and pack them away neatly before I can step on court to play. Strange I know!
What is the best thing you have ever gotten for free?
Digital camera.
What would be on the menu if you could choose your last meal on earth?
Thai green curry.
Outside of squash, what are your passions, talents or interests people would be surprised to learn you have?
I love art and enjoy painting in my free time.
What would you do if you won £100,000 on the lottery?
I’d have to be sensible and invest it.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
My ‘boys’ leg’s! I would prefer to have slightly less muscular legs!
