David Palmer vs James Willtrop

Please help spread the news so we can promote our game and demonstrate to the IOC, TV networks and potential advertisers and sponsors the size and geographic reach of the global squash audience.

Web Broadcast Website

Background
Production and delivery of the programming will be the product of Jean DeLierre and his team at Telimage -  well known in squash circles for their high quality TV productions of squash events over the years and for his squash DVD business at www.squashlive.com.

In yet another first for squash, DeLierre will be employing cutting edge peer-to-peer web delivery technology to enable 1 million + viewers to tune in to the programming at
www.squashlive.com simultaneously without affecting the quality of the images whatsoever.

The matches will be streamed FREE of charge and as can be expected with a DeLierre production, "trust that during the broadcast you will see the ball clearly and will be treated to the close ups and edits you are accustomed to through our dvds and clips."

To view the broadcasts a small software program must be downloaded first and currently the software streaming technology is only compatible with PC systems.

"Boston is becoming the hub for great things in squash.  David's addition to the Boston squash scene, coupled with our television-come-web-cast deal with Telimage Productions, the leading producer of video squash programming, affords us the opportunity to make squash accessible to larger and larger audiences" explains John Nimick, whose Event Engine sport and entertainment company is promoting the Players Cup Circuit and three of its associated tournaments.

More information at the bottom of this breaking story, but here is here is a quick interview with Jean DeLierre.

Squash360.com Exclusive Interview

Jean, what an exciting announcement!

It goes to the source of why squaslive came to be, to having the best possible images and sounds of the sport available on high-end media for the best representation possible.

It seems like this is the culmination of many many years of work?
The site was founded in 2001, it was called squashlive.com. I had a vision of the sport being streamed live in combination with television productions so as not to duplicate similar services and associated costs.

Furthermore, the main idea we pursued was to take advantage of manned cameras over stationary ones to create the best possible images from each event. With this product shown consistently to all networks around the globe, our goal was to establish solid partnerships with major corporate sponsors to whom we could offer the best representation & visibility on both the TV & Web media platforms.  We never know who could be watching our programs... an IOC member, a president of a company who plays squash and wants to invest into the game, so the idea is to put the best face all the time.

First Internet broadcast of squash, first HD squash broadcast, first BluRay squash DVD and now the first peer-to-peer squash Internet broadcast, what is your hope with the Boston Players Cup broadcasts? Aware that the DVDs have a limited reach outside the squash community, we try to push the limits every way we can with the hope that some day new commercial avenues will open up for the sport. Selling DVDs as we do to help pay for productions is a little crazy, well at least according to my wife and my accountant, but even if it doesn’t make sense I’m compelled to finish what I started.

What makes things possible and great in patches, when the inevitable production glitches get fixed of course, is the fact my children and an amazing group of people including our crew, the Pro players themselves and promoters are contributing what they can to help out. Also, the words of encouragement we receive on a daily basis from all corners of the globe are an incredible source of motivation as well. It has become clearer to us as the years passed by that even if our efforts led nowhere in the end, we’d have had the best of times trying.

Over the years and especially in the past several weeks as things have unfolded and gone through their peaks and valleys, I've been reminded of your passion and commitment to squash and to making this free internet broadcast happen.  I hope its ok for me to say that you are extending yourself personally and professionally - using your personal pocket book to pull this off?   What can the squash community do to support this effort?
They are helping now by purchasing our DVD's; we know they are watched by many at tournaments, during coaching lessons, to help junior groups and associations, all that can only help in the long run. OK I may be retired by the time it does but by then the momentum created may have become unstoppable”.

Why do you do it?
There’s a time to talk and a time to act, even if the conditions aren’t ideal, I like to believe latter is now.

I think the link to the preview of the technology should be http://www.squashlive.com/stream.php and not index_stream.php
